Peter De Clercq is one of the few chefs that really know how to grill. It has become the speciality in his restaurant Elckerlijc in Maldegem. He effortlessly tames the flames to a red glow and time and time again he serves perfectly grilled meat and fish. And all this in an extraordinarily creative way. His secret: knowledge of the business and good products.
Peter De Clerq's 'no nonsense' cooking certainly has its fans. From near and far the loyal clients come to restaurant Elckerlijc. The temperature of the wood fire reaches more than 100°C, but that doesn't faze the chef. The fresh products are expertly grilled. In the kitchen skilful hands prepare the accompanying salads and fry the freshly cut chips. The enthusiasm of the team sometimes ignites the dining area. That's a fire that even Peter De Clerq can't control.
